Hazelwood High Jinx Cozy Mysteries
Hazelwood is a well developed world, a fictional town in Wisconsin. Where the community is tight knit. It all began with Grace Hawthorne, who is the innkeeper and owns Mrs. Mason's Inn. She usually has Polly, her blue and gold macaw nearby, listening and repeating key clues. Her Aunt Irene and Uncle Henry help her run the inn. We have Sam Dawson, Darrell McGregor, and the town cop Jack Carter, who served together in Iraq. Sam runs Sam's bar, and Darrell is half owner in that enterprise, and is native American and an accomplished chef. Lucy and Nick Jenks also appear in these books, with their dog, Duke. Lucy is a hair dresser, her husband Nick is a truck driver. And then we have Ava Sinclair, whose Belgian Malinois, Scout, was adopted from Sam Dawson when he came back from Iraq. And Lily Lavender, the librarian. Each character may take the lead in an investigation in the books. They all have their talents, and together, they are a force that unravels many baffling cases.
